What happened in 2018
Researchers at USP and UFSCar presented a demonstration of automatic fake-news detection in Portuguese. The ICMC publication linked to this URL for access through WhatsApp. It credited Murilo Gazzola with making that integration available.

Classifying text does not establish a fact
The FakeCheck description presents models trained on the Fake.Br corpus as a proof of concept. A writing pattern does not prove that an event happened. The project itself advises consulting other sources; historical experimental results do not guarantee reliable classification of present-day messages.
How to use this address today
The historical WhatsApp route is identified below. The old application is discussed on the access page. This site’s worksheet is a separate tool: it organises sources and questions without automatically classifying a claim. Open the verification worksheet, follow the message guide or consult the original FakeCheck description.
The destination was recovered from the archive and confirmed by the team. We have not sent messages or tested a classification on your behalf.
A different historical project is documented in CheckCorona (2020).
What the web-form test established
On 19 October 2026 we submitted one original synthetic text of 135 words, without personal data, to the separate FakeCheck web form. Its interface displayed a result suggesting that the text might be false and advising consultation of reliable sources. This confirms receipt of a model response for that test; it does not measure accuracy or verify the WhatsApp bot.
The WhatsApp conversation page opened, but a reply test still requires account login. No Messenger bot reply has been verified. Neither bot is labelled operational on the strength of a link alone.
